    Tire wear
Okay riders I've only been riding about 3 years now and was wondering how far down does everyone let their tire tread go before replacing the back tire ?

Topic on my mind is.... Toy Haulers... RV's with trailers......on their way to the rallies. Don't forget the Golf carts!
I'm PROUD to say that I made the ride to Sturgis this year to celebrate the 74th rally. 2500 miles round trip from Battle Creek Mi. (Went trough Sturgis Mi. just for the hell of it. You know, Sturgis to Sturgis)
Lookin back on it, loved every second of it, the wet ride, the Chicago traffic, the detours, the poor fuel quality, and the R.V.s don't forget the OTHER BIKERS. Nothing deterred me from my determination to enjoy my journey. I rode it alone, as my fellow weekend warriors riders all wussed out on the ride or took their R #!&^%%$##@@ V's.,or didn't go. No one to tell me when to stop, go, eat, piss, smoke, drink, like I said loved every second of it. The absolute best part of it all, was the people I met along the way, seriously. The fellow actual riders that is. They know who they are, the bikers
At camp, met a long time rally goer, 16 straight years he had RIDDEN his bike to Strurgis, from Baltimore. Respect that! He talked of his first years there and NO ONE brought their bike on a TRAILER! Everybody rode. That was the point. You got on your bike and you made the ride to South Dakota. Then, the rally started 500 miles from Sturgis, and by the time you got on 90 west, the highway belonged to the MEN and their BIKES on their way to the rally, Sorry I missed that. Meeting up with a pack of 50 to 60 bikes, was not unusual, and soon quite a large pack would train down a lane. Sweet. So sorry I missed that.
So.. now I say to all you umm bikers, who hauled their bike to last rally or event, if you can't find the courage to ride it, at least stay out of the fast lane on the upgrade, and let the real bikers get around your ass.

Thanks riders, the more information the better. I believe now, that the best countermeasure for unusual tire wear is proper inflation. The Dunlop tire is a super soft compound, (for better grip, I'm told) and tire pressure is very important. And if the roads are as choppy, potholed, patched, rutted and bumpy as they are around my area, tire pressure should be checked quite often. Oh and blurpebuzz, I'm on a FatBob.

How important is changing the oil in the front forks? Some say, do it every year. Does this improve tire wear? My front tire looks bad, no cords showing, just looks like the left side is cupped in spots . Low oil in shock? I have read on here somewhere that the Dunlops wear on one side like that, and to change up the manufacturer, maybe a Michelin or Pirelli would last longer. Oh yeah, I'm on a 08 Fat Bob, fat tires...expensive.
