I've got a 2005 Kaw Vulcan 2000 with less than 7k miles on it. The other day I started hearing this noise when the bike was moving, powered or not, just a little ticking sound kinda like a playing card in the spokes sound. I had a similar sound when I first bought it when it had 2600 miles on it, the dealer adjusted the belt and said I was good to go. Within 2 days it has turned into a horrible noise, not quite a grinding but just a racket that I can definately hear when slowing down or just taking off. I figure it is there all the time (when moving) but just can't hear it over the engine and exhaust. I looked at the belt and all the moving parts and see no sign of wear, cracking or anything on the belt. Had someone looking right at it as I pushed it to see if they could see anything and nada. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Hoping its nothing major like the bearings in the rear wheel or something, this is my first belt drive...    less

W I  N   D   Y    ! Predicted gusts to 65mph, sustained winds from 35 to 45mph. In the early morning I went to town on Rex to photograph an Art-Car parade. It was a bit blustery but manageable. After the parade was over I pointed Rex north towards Roz, our RV. There is a canyon that we pass through and I want to say WOW, (expletive deleted), WOW! The gusty winds there were switching directions instantly and randomly. Now this old biker has some miles in the saddle but this was, to greatly understate, a bit exciting. The point that scared me was after coming out of a sweeping turn, with Rex straight and verticle, running 65mph, we suddenly moved about a foot to the left. I do not mean we were pushed to the left with a hard gust, I mean the bike got real light and instantly was relocated. It felt as if we were...    less

I had no respect for the office nor the uniform. Several run-ins with The Man taught me that there were cops that would lie, cheat evidence and coerce witnesses. Well, times change and so do a biker’s perceptions. It all started one late night, heading from Phoenix to California. I had rebuilt a pan/shovel engine and punched it to just over 80ci. I reworked the gear ratio between the rear sprocket and the output shaft of the tranny for a higher top end. I also had just over 500 miles of break-in on the new motor. I left Phoenix around 10 pm and headed out on I-10 towards Quartzite and Blythe. So it’s 3 am on a nearly flat deserted freeway with not a car in sight. I reached around and grabbed a whole handful-o-throttle and said “Let's open 'er up and see what she'll do!” She was a rigid frame, tall-boy w/12" over springer front end. I had a small...    less

A few weeks ago she was diagnose with congestive heart failure. She has been having problems for over a year and I always suspected this was the problem. I had to take her to the E.R. 3 weeks ago from work because she could not breathe, and they found it. Her blood pressure was sky high and would not stablize. Then 2 days ago they called to tell her she now has renal (kidney) failure too. This has been really hard on us both. Her mom has Alzhiemeer's and her dad Parkinsons. It seems like it just won't end. I hope you all will remember us in your prayers. Going to Myrtle Beach Bike week in a week and hope that will let us escape the pressure for a little while and just relax. Thank you cyclefish for the opprotunity to post this and kinda get it off my chest. I can't lose my best friend. I love her dearly.  less

I suspect that the Belt Was too Tight causing excess load and wear on the bearings.. Make sure it is adjust porperly..

That's why I always ride in the left cager tire foot print.. but still had morons pull up beside me to turn right.. I don't feel safe.in the right foot print due to cagers not seeing you that are going straight across from the left.. that's why I keep my distance in right side or left side of lane.. It is not good to hide from cagers that can't see you anyway... Yes I like the Florida law as well .. I had a cager pull right out in front of me today.. that's why I was looking at him.. he did not turn his head and look at me at all so I knew to avoid this moron....

This I will never forget.. I had a 750 honda punched to 836 cafe style .. Tuned carbs. went for test ride run up to about 80 tune up was fine. turned around and headed back just as fast.. A truck whipped out to pass a car.. I was doing 80 again.. I hugged the center lane hoping he would get over a little.. I saw the massive grill right in front of my eyes.. I think I closed them.. I just knew I was dead.. I opened my eyes and he was in the ditch.. he somehow jerked it over. without me hitting the rear of the truck.. I pulled off the road and asked him why he swerved. He said he did not want to kill me.. I still see that Grill to day and shake a little bit.. But, No I have not slowed down but sped up.. Until the Harley..

Ok ! I had just bought a new Honda CBR1000RR , Riding back streets to get used to it and Saw a MC Cop. He motioned me to pull over.. I took off my Helmet and he really looked supprised we were about the same age.. He said do you know how fast you were going.. I said no Sir I had turned on the street and wicked it a little bit thru 2nd gear.. He said you were doing 55 in a 25 Mph Zone, you know you can go to Jail.. I told him the truth partly that I had just bought the bike and was not used to it.. I didn't realize I was going that Fast.. He Said I'll give you a break this time Slow Down... the replaceable lens fell out of my Glasses and he told me to pick it up and get out of the 25 mph zones.. I said yes sir.. Nice Deputy Sheriff . He was there because of complaints of speeding on that street..
The only HP that let me go was in my car.... I was on a two lane road in my 68 428 Mustang when a slow car was holding about 5 cars back.. I down shifted to 3rd kicked down and passed everyone . But when I go along side the lead car I looked over and saw the Patch.. Granny shifted into 4 th and went around.. He pulled me and told me that He couldn't give me a ticket for speeding while passing.. but that I was doing 60 in a 55.. I said no sir officer I was making sure I was not speeding.. He said the big tires made the speedo wrong. but still let me off with a warning.. So all Cops are not pricks.. Oh I know One..they finally kicked him from the Force.. He was a big black man and pulled me and told me I was speeding in my loud mustang.. I was not.. he shine his light all in the car..sounds like Illegal search.. finallly let me go with a warning but, still was very aggressive.. to many complaints from women got him Kicked from the force .. I said thank you...
