Share you favorite Biker friendly places

I dig two laner exploration! About 90% of the time we end up picking places to eat or stay that are awesome! Sometimes not so awesome... I thought it would be a fun winter past time to share a few and maybe get some ride ideas from others experiences.

Last summer Terri and I did a two week two laner exploration of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and SD. I may not be spot on with the names, but close...

The Bonefish in Kennewick is awesome, and they had a little beer garden type thing out front with an old hippy playing accoustic guitar and sining old Jonny Cash tunes. Not what I would call a biker place, but we seemed to fit in. The yuppies all stared at the hog... they had some kind of saute'd scallops that were phenominal!

There's a total dive tavern on the way out of Lewiston ID I think its called the antique tavern. Like stepping back in time. Reminded me of a hole you would find on Route 66. HUGE burgers and cold beer. Great place to ditch the helmet!

There's a roadside coffee stand in Potlach ID run by an older lady. We grabbed an iced late' there and BS'd with her a while. She told us that she can't SELL beer, but she had a tip jar and there was a cooler with beer in it in her car... LOL

On Hwy 56 between Herpn and Troy MT there is a bar called the Halfway. Its on Bull Lake. Not a town, just a camp ground. Very pretty scenery and they had Shocktop on Tap. Pounders for $2.

In Belle Fourche SD on the main drag, just after down town and across a bridge there is a sports bar. Nice place. And they have these things called rancher Tips. It's a tri tip that they cut into strips, dip in batter, and deep fry. Comes with awesome curly fries! Highly recommend them! And cold beer of course. friendly people. Like a sports bar for cowboys, but they didn't mind us bikers.

There's a cool old hippy couple in Custer SD that do the old fashioned photos. Let me bring my bike in for a shot of me and the old lady... Then for advertisement he wanted me to ride around town in the costume... got a few strange looks.

Cook City, on the Top of the World Pass road from red Lodge to Yellowstone... kick ass little town. the big bar in the middle of town, also a pizza place, can't remember the name (Imagine that)... they have an awesome bar with the huge old fashion bar mirror. Like a log cabin in there. Had a juke box with Led Zepplin in it if that helps... Drank my share of gin that night! We met a couple guys from Australia who had come over on a whim for a coule days... ended up getting bored in San Diego so they rented two Road Kings and had put on 9,000 miles of two laners in 35 days. They were on their way to the Olympic peninsula then down the coast to San Diego... great stories we hear that night!

There is a 2 laner that ended up being about 40 miles of gravel at the top. Its Hwy 38 in Montana over Skalkaho pass. A little freaky, but worked out great. There is an amazing waterfall up there. (in my photos)

Bar in Lolo at the corner of hwy 12 and hwy 93. I think its the Haystack. Nice, clean, biker friendly, cold brew and awesome chicken strips!

Of course Lolo pass curves is awesome! We missed the Jack at the top. Didn't know about it until we were long gone. Will be hitting that place July 2nd!!!

Lets hear your stories. Where are the cool dives? and cool people?

On a figure 8 type loop to the N CA coast. We met a couple from Columbia that had ridden from Miami to Anchorage, Down the coast to where we met them and their plan was to ride Through Mexico, then central America, and back home to Columbia. We rode through some Redwoods and then over the coastal range from Eureka to Redding, down to Reno, back up to Weed,CA. We stopped at the Hi Lo Cafe for dinner. Great Food, Huge servings, and great people running the place. Next on to Klamath Falls. Then followed an Oregon Scenic Highway to Crater Lk. then followed the Umpqua River from the Cascades to the coast at Reedsport. Up the coast to Tillimook and starting cutting in towards the NE and back up into NW WA. On last summers trip the Hi Lo in Weed was the only notable establishment we were lucky enough to find on this trip. I be doing Lolo Pass on July 10th

You all have some great places, my fav place is a rock along the river. Grap a couple of cold beer stick em in the cooler on the scoot and head about 4 miles from home. I can pull the bike down close to the river, just sit and watch/listen to the water flow by! I unwind 4days a week there in the summer! LOL Guess I need to get out more! lol

Speaking of Rivers, in the south central part of Pennsylvania if you are following the Susquehanna river south
to Harrisburg don't think your eyes are failing you when you see the Statue Of Liberty on an old concrete railroad
bridge pylon in the middle of the river, it's a scaled down version.

If any of ye come to Ireland I can show some crackin' places which are real biker friendly, most of them run by bikers. But one place in the US always stands out for me is the Black Cat bar in Seligman Arizona..as a visiting biker just passing thru, I was treated fantastically there, including getting a local mechanic to check out a problem i had with the Ultra-glide, free, and a very kind local lady brought my wife "clothes" shopping while in town. Thankfully I was able to return the compliment a few years later in Ireland....I'm still suffering the hangover.

There use to be a place in Asbury Park, NJ called Crossroads Bar, on the corner of 4th and Main, owned by Tommy and his wife Cindy. It was the best place around. Great bartenders, cold beer, and the best bands on the East Coast....Blues and Rock....Sonny Kenn Band, Matt O'Ree, national acts popping through....but like most of the best places, it closed. Haven't found a watering hole to replace it yet....but I'm looking!!!!!!

Never rode that stretch - Driven it gangs of times - Spooky - alternating porno & Amish quilt shops - a leather goods place where it looks like they throw strangers down the well - a wood, 4 car, sternwheel, ferryboat - AND - just for good measure PA DOT signs "HIGH DWI CRASH AREA" - "AGGRESSIVE DRIVER AREA"

Where do you stop when riding there

Here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania we are blessed that we have lots of land and waterways that are unspoiled by development that folks can enjoy.

    RevBigJohn:
That run is only time we crossed a river just so we could cross it someplace else.

About as soon as we get new skins on the Uly going to trace the Susquehanna, both sides.
Still would like to know some places to stop

It is interesting you should mention this place. It seems every time my friends and I make a back road run up that way we end up there. Yes a nice place and good people. I have been trying to get her to join CF for quite sometime. Why don't you give her a poke in that direction?

The Hideout is a great little stop on weekends when we ride in the Mtns east of Escondido Ca. Cheap beer, lots of friendly folks and several events thru the year that make this one of my favorites.

The Longhorn Saloon in Smokey Point WA.
One pool table, three big aquariums and a large outdoor area for the 'Unclean' that smoke tobacco...
The best is "Taco Tuesday" followed by "Steak Nite" Friday.

The Indian Pass raw bar is one of THE BEST places Ive seen. Between Port St Joe and Apalachicola. Oysters, shrimp, crab and ice cold beer on a hot day. By the way, it was on that show "Hairy bikers". It was the place where they cook "drunken chicken".
