OK so you got my attention. I always wondered how my motor worked in my race car. Even though I've seen motors built and have been around my crew chief while tearing down and rebuilding I didn't really understand the "workings" of the pistons, rods, springs and all. I have broken many rockers along the way.
Thank you Jetman, that was great information. Wow, that was awesome! (what woman says that?)

What format are you posting in (the non-video ones)?
We just added AutoCAD & have built a few articulated assembly models,
p.s.: Interesting universal joint - Really simple and really unique - Going quite insane trying to resist the temptation to grab a pencil & analyze the forces

I see your missing a motorcycle engine. I remember that some one had one from the V Twin motor some where.

That is a very basic drawing.....the actual UJ is way more complicated with steel ball needle races on pivoting shafts to accomodate flexing between the 2 surfaces, shaft thickness and pivot shafts are bigger than shown, not strong enough or durable enough at those thicknesse...A complicated UJ, but efficient - Needs good oil supply to remain low friction and low noise, it needs a sticky heavier oil to lubricate it, I used some Molibdinum grease added to Hypoid EP 90 at a ratio of 5:1 grease to oil...this produces an approx 120 weight oil... (Good for noisy stick shift boxes prior to selling the car to the first ummm 'intelligent' person that comes along) ...lol...

That was the best time I spent goofing off at work in a very long time! Thank you... I actually feel like I used my brain a little bit and learned something instead of reading fluff. Very nicely done.
