My Son - The soon to be College Graduate!

He had to take a step-down to an Associate's Degree, due to something in MY past that prevented this year's loans from being approved.  But, considering he might've had to drop out, had my brother not stepped up to the plate to help, at least he will get a degree.  I am as proud as proud can be.  Of him.   I wish I could say the same for myself.  It seems like I find myself, mired in one personal disappointment after the next.  The loans were just the start of the latest round of tribulations.  I'm working under extreme pain (2 compressed vertebrae), just to make enough for gas, smokes, and a few necessities. Then, come to find out, someone used either my son's or my SS#'s on their Tax Return!  So they denied mine!  It's all had to be...    less

W I  N   D   Y    ! Predicted gusts to 65mph, sustained winds from 35 to 45mph. In the early morning I went to town on Rex to photograph an Art-Car parade. It was a bit blustery but manageable. After the parade was over I pointed Rex north towards Roz, our RV. There is a canyon that we pass through and I want to say WOW, (expletive deleted), WOW! The gusty winds there were switching directions instantly and randomly. Now this old biker has some miles in the saddle but this was, to greatly understate, a bit exciting. The point that scared me was after coming out of a sweeping turn, with Rex straight and verticle, running 65mph, we suddenly moved about a foot to the left. I do not mean we were pushed to the left with a hard gust, I mean the bike got real light and instantly was relocated. It felt as if we were...    less

Some of you know Dew, our daughter is living and working in Japan.  She speaks and writes Japannesse fluently and is teaching Japannesse Students (3rd thru 9th) english.

Anyway as a lark she entered in Japans Annual Womens Sumo Contest!  I did a U-tube search and those women get SERIOUS!  Anyway the contest was a held last weekend.  She had never wrestled in her life and was pretty apprehensive.  The big bosses at work, took her out and started drinking Saki the night before and tried to teacher her some "tricks"...  Wish we had THAT on U-tube!  Well the next day she travelled  to another city for the contest and get registered...there was over 70 women entered!

The following day the contest began,  they had played on her name and had named her "Odori Yama" on her fight card.  Translation - "Dancing Mountain"!  Dew won 8 boughts in a row!  She ended up in the final round apposed to the reigning champion for 5 years for 1st place!  She ended up taking Second place, won $400 cash and many small prizes...She was interview and was on TV and in papers...never had a foriegner gone so far!  She now has became somewhat of a local celibrity....

    Proud Dad!
