Memorial Day! A time of Duty.
I'm not sayin', you shouldn't have that bar-b-q.  And I'm not sayin' you shouldn't enjoy the extra day off.  Nice ridin' weather, calls.  I get that.  What I am askin', is that you do something,...  moreI'm not sayin', you shouldn't have that bar-b-q.  And I'm not sayin' you shouldn't enjoy the extra day off.  Nice ridin' weather, calls.  I get that.  What I am askin', is that you do something, to honor those who died for your FREEDOMS. Memorial Day, isn't just another excuse to party, people.  And it should mean somethin' to ya, even if you never served, or knew anyone personally who did.   Most of us, here on CycleFish, were raised in a certain ERA.  One in which, we were taught, our moral obligations. AND THIS...is one of 'em.  And hopefully, you've passed down, what you've been taught, to YOUR children, and grandchildren.  Because, it's when we forget why this country is, as great as it is, and when we turn our backs on our duty to honor, that which is right, we've also turned our backs on God, and Country.  And then collapse of everything you now hold dear, is just...    less

A few weeks ago she was diagnose with congestive heart failure. She has been having problems for over a year and I always suspected this was the problem. I had to take her to the E.R. 3 weeks ago from work because she could not breathe, and they found it. Her blood pressure was sky high and would not stablize. Then 2 days ago they called to tell her she now has renal (kidney) failure too. This has been really hard on us both. Her mom has Alzhiemeer's and her dad Parkinsons. It seems like it just won't end. I hope you all will remember us in your prayers. Going to Myrtle Beach Bike week in a week and hope that will let us escape the pressure for a little while and just relax. Thank you cyclefish for the opprotunity to post this and kinda get it off my chest. I can't lose my best friend. I love her dearly.  less

New Girl from RI with Newbie questions...
Hi everyone! I'm from RI and just bought my first bike, it's a 2012 Suzuki TU250x, and I am also just taking my MFS saftey course.  Last night was the first range class and I got to drive a bike for the first time in my life! I'm from RI and just bought my first bike, it's a 2012 Suzuki TU250x, and I am also just taking my MFS saftey course.  Last night was the first range class and I got to drive a bike for the first time in my life! I did pretty well but I am really scared  for when I take my bike home.  I'm afraid that the safety course alone won't be enough for me to feel comfortable driving around... what are your experiences with your first ride?  Any advice for a timid newbie?  Thanks in advance! <3  less

    Nice post Tweek,
To little of todays youth and citizensdo not realize what Memorial day and Veterans Day actually stand for.
I am so glad that our troops today are receiving support and respect that they deserve. When we came back from or did not come back from SE Asia, there was very little respect and support for us vets.
You do not have to agree with the country's policies, but our troops do what is expected of them.
    Show them that we care.

Welcome Aboard from North NJ !!!  Lots of real good input already.  My input is to always watch out for #1, you.  A lot of motorists do not see us no matter how loud, how lit up we are.  Defensive riding is the way to go.

One of the best quotes above is to go with other experienced riders.  I have always found that 75% of riders will always be helpful, just ask.

I am 61, and I still get scared the way other drivers really do not seem to care we are out there and the road is ours as much as theirs.

Take it slow, wear the protective gear, and enjoy the ride.
