Welcome to the Shenandoah Valley Ride
Estimated Mileage: 577 miles
Estimated return time: Sunday July 27th 3:30 PM
Lunch stop and mileage: Varies based on day
DESCRIPTION OF RIDE: Join us for a 3-day ride to the Shenandoah Valley. Friday will be primarily secondary roads until we meet up with Rte 33 to ride over the mountain to the Shenandoah Valley and Harrisonburg, VA where we will stay for two nights. We will stop in Ashland, VA for lunch.
SATURDAY: We will go to Shenandoah Caverns and American Celebration on Parade in Quicksburg, VA. (https://shenandoahcaverns.com/). You have the option of touring the Caverns or touring the displays in the American Celebration on Parade. Check out the website to see which one you would like to do. There is a café on the grounds so we will have lunch there and then head out to ride around the Valley. We’ll stop by Meems Bottom Bridge, a covered bridge still used as part of the road system. From there we will ride North on Rte 11 for a bit, then head back on some great roads through the Valley and ride over the mountain to Orkney Springs. From there we will continue South through the Valley to Natural Chimneys State Park, then back to Harrisonburg.
SUNDAY: We will head South through the Valley to Waynesboro where we will take I-64 and head home.
