Event Desc

  • For 28 years motorcyclists from all over the world have gathered in a small community in northeastern Alabama to commemorate the 'Trail of Tears', the forced removal of native American members of the Cherokee Nation in the southeast to designated tribal lands in Oklahoma from 1830 to 1850. The official ride, on the 3rd Saturday every September, runs from Bridgeport Alabama to Waterloo Alabama. The ride has been attended by as many as 150,000 motorcyclists in a train as long as 50 miles. It is fully escorted by Alabama State and local police on the entire route.

The 'unofficial' ride runs from Cherokee NC to Tahlequah OK (including the official ride route). Every year a group of riders from the San Antonio area make the ride out to Cherokee to commemorate the ride and pay tribute to the ancestors of some of the riders. This years ride from Texas will pass through several of the parks and forests in our State and then join the Natchez Trace Parkway, in Natchez LA, and ride it all the way to Tennessee. Then the riders will enjoy the famous Cherohala Skyway and take in the notorious 'Tail of the Dragon' (318 curves in 11 miles) in the beautiful Smoky Mountains. The ride passes through 8 States and some of the most magnificent country in the USA. Come ride it with us.
