Event Desc

  • While serving his first tour, USMC Sgt John Peck suffered a traumatic brain injury from an improvised explosive device (IED). Once healed, John was determined to rejoin his brothers. Two years later, he returned to his unit in Afghanistan.

During his second tour on May 24, 2010, John was severely injured by another IED. In that moment he recalls thinking, “I don’t want to die here, please don’t let me die here.”

The explosion immediately took both of his legs and his left arm. Later, due to a severe infection, his right arm was amputated as well. John was in a coma for three months. It took him over two years to recover.

Today Sgt. Peck lives here in NJ with his beautiful wife of 4 years, Jessica.

Although the military has paid for most of his medical bills and other organizations have assisted in living conditions in another state, he and his wife had to move to NJ.

Now Sgt. Peck needs our assistance in renovations to his home in Edgewater, NJ. Presently he has contractors assisting with renovations to improving his accessibility to their bathrooms and other areas of their home so he can maintain some sort of normalcy living there with his wife.
