Event Desc

  • The Navajo Hopi Honor Riders Annual Run first took place in 2003 to honor Spec. Lori Piestewa, the first female Native American to be killed in combat. Since then often referred to as the “Ride For Lori”, the annual run has added at least 15 more Navajo Gold Star families that have lost a loved one in the U.S. involved military conflicts.

In May of every year, the Navajo Hopi Honor Riders host a four-day ride, covering more than 800 miles, with dozens of Blue and Gold Star families of Native military personnel who were either killed in combat or who are overseas in dangerous wars and witnessed by thousands of community members during this unforgettable event. Many heartfelt receptions and ceremonies honoring the families and individuals are planned. Typically, more than 200 motorcycle riders, many of them Veterans themselves, participate in this annual ride to honor our military personnel, and is the signature event of NHHR.
