Huntington's disease has been called the most horrible disease known to man—it is a devastating, hereditary, and fatal degenerative brain disorder that results in a loss of cognitive, behavioral and physical control diminishing the affected individual's ability to walk, talk and reason. HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene often meaning the caregivers become the patients. Today, there are approximately 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-‐risk of inheriting the disease. It has been said that having HD is like having Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS simultaneously.

The Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s (HDSA) Minnesota Chapter is holding the 1st annual HDSA Ride for Hope on Saturday September 22nd. This event will bring together influential Minnesotans who are all in search for a cure for this horrific disease while enjoying a scenic motorcycle run. Proceeds from the event support the mission and programs of HDSA MN Chapter all of which aim to bring help for today and hope for tomorrow to everyone affected by Huntington’s disease (HD).

You can make an impact in your community today by making a tax-‐deductible donation of an auction item or raffle prize to this year’s HDSA Ride for Hope. Donors whose donated items are valued over $50 will receive name recognition in the event program. Items of higher value will receive additional benefits from their donation.

No one should have to face Huntington’s disease alone. I hope you’ll join our community with your support today. If you have questions about additional ways to get involved with this event or about HDSA and our work, please contact me directly.
