The 8th Annual Ride For The Red motorcycle run will be held Labor Day weekend to raise funds for the American Red Cross’ Finger Lakes Chapter’s local services, including the Service to the Armed Forces program. The event is supported by Arkport Harley Davidson and Arkport-Corning HOG (Harley Owners Group).

The weekend kicks off on Friday, Sept. 2 at 5:30 p.m. with a short ride from Americas Best Value Inn, 196 South Hamilton St., Painted Post. The main event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3 from the American Legion in Big Flats. The ride will be led by NYS motorcycle Troopers through the beautiful Finger Lakes Region.

Pre-registration online is highly recommended by Aug. 19. On-site registration runs from 9 to 11 a.m. The ride leaves at 11:30 a.m. sharp.

T-shirts are guaranteed for pre-registered riders and passengers, plus one commemorative bike flag for the first 100 pre-registered riders. Also included are meals after the ride. The pre-registration cost is $20 for the rider and $20 for the passenger. On site registration cost is $25 for the rider and $25 for the passenger (limited quantity of T-shirts available for sale day of the ride).

The perpetual Chapter Challenge Award, similar to the Stanley Cup, will be awarded to the club with the most participating members. This award will be re-presented at future Ride For The Red events.

The American Red Cross will also hold a blood drive at the Big Flats American Legion on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 1 to 5 p.m.
