Event Desc

  • This year’s Pig Cook and Hog Run will benefit Lauderdale County Books from Birth to help provide books and an early start on education to children before they reach school. The event will be ran in conjunction with the Lauderdale County Fair and showcase a BBQ cook-off, benefit ride, and 5K run. Fair attendance is usually in the 7000 range. We are hoping to help Books from Birth reach out to several in the community for awareness and to sign up several families in need of books for their children.

The cook-off will be held on KCBS standards but will not be a sanctioned event. We are set up that way so all cooks in our area will be encouraged to compete. Our way of bringing everyone together for the purpose of helping children. We are always in need of judges for the cook off, and if you want to sample some good BBQ this would be the place. The ride will consist of several historic sites in Lauderdale County including the Veteran’s Museum, Fort Pillow, and the Alex Haley Museum. It will be a scavenger hunt ride not a poker run. We are adding a 5K run this year if interested.
