The ABATE State Run is held at Frandy Campground (a private campground and ABATE business member) which is located on the banks of the Kern River and is immediately adjacent to the downtown area of Kernville. Lodging is available nearby, and in addition, there are many fine dining and entertainment establishments located within walking distance of the campground, along with curio and souvenir shops. Fishing, kayaking, and white water rafting are all also available.

The ABATE State Run is an event for those who are more interested in having fun with like-minded folks who enjoy fresh air, the mountains, and proximity to water. Many participants in the past have taken advantage of camping on the Kern River to get in some quality fishing time. This is a not a run of corporate excess but rather an old-fashioned biker party and run where bikers can come together for a week-end of fun and fellowship and at the same time help raise funds necessary to carry out the work ABATE performs on behalf of California's motorcyclists.
