recently had the starter fail on my 99 fat boy. the starter spins fine but nothing engauges to turn motor over. can
not start bike unless its push started. that has gotten old real quick even though it starts. runs fine other than that
anyone have  a real good sense of where to start, never gotten in to that kind of repair. Im guessing  i can get to the problem behind the primary case, but dont have any idea after that.

Is the starter just spinning and not engaging? makes like a whirling sounds, right? if thats the case you gotta replace the starter - you could always push start it too, worst comes to worst!!

Last I herd more likely the starter drive kinda like the old bendix in cars, my question is how to get to it behind the primary and what else has to be removed to replace it
