There are 2  parts to the legend of Bone Hill,the 1st is the name.Long ago the indians would drive the buffalo to this hill and slaughter them,leaving their bones to bleach in the sun. The early pioneers that settled in the area found arrowheads,scraping tools and bleached bones in large quanities. The 2nd part of the legend is about buried treasure and ghosts that would appear. Before the civil war a farming family with slaves setteled on the hill and had their slaves build a stone wall surrounding the property.When the border war became intense the family sold the farm for gold,and buried it somewhere along the stone wall.They told the neighbors they would come back in seven years, but were never seen in the area again.But in 1869 seven years later strange lights were seen hoovering around Bone Hill near the stone wall.The legend goes that every seven years the ghost of the farmer comes back to find his gold.A cemetery has been on Bone Hill for many years.

Bone Hill is just south of Levasy MO off 24 hwy,south on H hwy.You will see the stone wall on the west side of H hwy,then turn on bone hill road to go up the hill to the cemetery.

Great legend stuff...however I'm doubting that the indians left much behind
since every part of the kill, weather it was buffalo, deer, elk,ect..was used for something...
however the cool thing about legends it allows us to use our imaginations....
