I met a merchant sailor on a ferry boat on Sabine Pass in 1975 that had completely covered his Moto Guzzi with crocheted "paint". He said he was at sea for 6+ months at a time with nothing to do, so the crochet was something to do to pass the time. The ship owner allowed him to bring the Guzzi aboard, so the newly made bits were done in place.

Oh, that is a classic! Looks good... but the rotors are covered, hot pipes would make the effect permanent and the tires... well, we know what would happen there!
