Just recently was given a brand new LP record of the band Lady Antebellum from a good friend, who apparently was given it by another person who did not have any way to use it.This record is really good!!!

The LP is solid, compared to some old LP's I have, the sound was perfect & I must declare that LP sound is still superior to any disc player I have ever heard.I am using an old Kenwood system I saved from a junk heap back in the late 80's a friend was tossin out in favor of going all digital. My speakers were saved in the same manner from another lady who was junking them in favor of a new compact system.each speaker prolly weighs abt 50 lbs.The turntable is the original top of the line I managed to find the last set of brand new needles for her about 20 years ago,tho at that time I put it up in favor of the disc's usually.

Anyone else still using a LP player?

Yes I know they have their drawbacks, yet for sentimental reasons I will never let go of my vinyl or my old system, its worked for 20+ years wonder if I wont get another 20?
besides I have over 300 LPs  LOL

stay safe & enjoy the ride all

i have an old stereo system w/ turntable that was my parents. I can't locate needles for it. Have a smaller one, too. I miss the sound, nothing better than a vinyl record. Goodnight

The 8 track systems were phased out a long time ago.I am surprised Rev that you even have a working model? which is a testament to the way things were built back then.I had a couple of * track tapes I threw out last year as I had kept them for sentimental/$$$ value,I probably should have put them on Ebay, one tape was the last recording of Lynrd Skynrd with the flames on the cover,. the LP that was reissued after the plane crash w/out the flames on it.

Cassette tapes traveled a strange trip.
They replaced reel-to-reel, almost replaced records, faded in popularity to 8-Tracks, became more popular, then CD's beat them out.

Bands, even "Garage Bands" today have got it made getting their music out there.

I myself enjoy LP's and play my 8 track up to the early 2000's. I would collect as many 8 track tapes as I could find from yard sales, auctions, swap meets. I found after a couple of months of playing they would break and now my 8 track player crapped out on me. So now I am left with my CD players. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Well, blurple good luck with your LP player and Albums. Enjoy while you hav'em.

My old 8 track player crapped out on me about 10 years ago,it hung in there for a long time till it
started eating them. Then I dumped the majority of them.Still have a lot of cassette tapes,n play them once in a while.
Feel blessed even having the means to play these LP's still.Eventually I may break down and buy a new one if there any still being made.

I still have a few record players still in the house, not any high end stuff but it can play the stacks or Vinyl we still have. A good friend of mine is a musician that swears by old vinyl as being better then digital. His comment is the high end of the music is missing from digital.

Have to agree, the high end is missing from most of the music we hear on disc.
Apparently vinyl is still being produced and Rainbo records is a good example, they are pressing more new vinyl than they did back in the 90's,just watched an interesting show about it on the history channel. They also press disc's yet that has fallen off now that everyone is going w/digital downloading online.
Its part of a new trend a lot of bands are going vinyl & disc.

thats why i like living in the 3rd world country of Aussie, real to real 8 tracks and record players are still in abundance down under...Tanznit..you can get on thenet and get all manner of record needles..just search for them..I have a Kenwood System I bought back in the 80's the needles wore out and I found a place in Melbourne Australia that can get a hold of needles to suit any record player..Looking in my ol mans shed I saw he had an 8 track...and a few ol cassettes for it...It was plugged in.. so I pushed the cassette in and shit it worked...my ol man walked in behind me...found it did ya!......I don't believe ist music unless there is crackling mixed in with it...

Thanks for posting Jonsey, its good to know I may be able to find a replacement needle somehere out there.
Not sure what the life is on these needles I figured about 2-3000 hours? I know the sound quality far exceeds my disc players ability to reproduce.Even with the cracks n pops,it feels n sounds more full bodied on the LP.
