Basic coverage minimum requirements for Calif I believe is 15/30/10 per accident--liability-per injury/ liability cap amt per acc/ property damage cap amt.its not much really.I carry just the basic liab & guest pass medical & towing runs me abt $100. a year,it will follow me into any state in the union and Canada. Also my Company/limits will match the host states minimum requirements under law.I think in Calif you can also post a bond to meet the requirement for proof of coverage.

Only used the towing once in the past ten years, the fuel pump failed.Wasnt any hassles setting up claim.

Of course prices will vary depending on a persons driving record, number of miles driven annually, and the use of also.
Some will pay more if living in citys opposed to countryside areas.
    hope this helps !

Here in Florida, long as your bike is paid for (no loans on it), and you're over 21, you don't have to have insurance. However, the minute, you throw a passenger on the back, you better be carryin' @ least medical liability. Runs anywheres between $100 and $400 a year, depending on the age of the bike, and the mileage, on it. Obviously, it it's chromed and "tweek"d, you might want some comprehensive as well. That'll ad a few more dollars a year.

And...it's smart to ad a maintenance policy, which covers things, like tires, belts, batteries, and acts of God...
Not too many companies offer that, but they're attainable online. Separate, but a GOOD idea!!!
That stuff ads up, over a hard ridin' season. Feel me? It's worth it.

I have had Progressive on my motorcycles for decades. On an older bike the same coverage is just $110.00 a year. Two accidents in 40 years and they did a heck of a lot better for me than I thought any insurance company would do. When my wife was killed they took my medical, since I wasn't injured, and applied it to the funeral expenses. I don't know how they pulled it off but they did.

    Peace

I was quoted a price of $235 for the 100-300-50, $201 for the 50-100-25, and $174 for the 25-50-25 with a $500 deductible. Last year I paid $325 for just the 25-50-25. This must be the magical year for my bike to get the cheaper rates (4 yrs old). I think maybe I will up the coverages and still save $90. Thanks Jimmyacorn

Glad I could offer some assistance.  But hell, I don't even understand any of it really.  They've just always been there when needed.

When my friend went down last year his medical bills for his thee week stay in the ICU and hospital were just a bit north of 330k, so saving a few bucks might cost you alot more in the end. I doubled my coverage, and by raising my deductible to 1000 it wound up only costing me a few bucks more each month.

Take a hard look at the medical for the operator.
I've got full coverage on all vehicles including my bike. My son was in an accident in the car a while back and found out I only had $1000 of medical coverage for him which they "stacked" because I had three vehicles at the time to $3000. And that's all they paid.
His bill turned out to be about a quarter of a mill in all totalled up, just for medical. If he had a passenger they would have been covered up to like $300k.
I've since upped to the max medical for the operator but even with the three vehicles they will still only cover $15k for the operator.
Crazy as that is, if the owner of the property that he had his accident on filed they would have paid them up to $50k for a tree and some grass.
I pay about $450 a year for full coverage on the bike 100/300.

Two bikes, basic coverage - $108. Covers $33,000 in medical but after reading a couple of horror stories we may up our coverage.

I carry this on all my vehicles:
Bodily Injury Liability $250,000 each person, $500,000 each occurrence
Property Damage Liability $100,000 each occurrence
Medical payments $5,000. After that, I think your regular health care covers.
In Iowa, we insure for Uninsured Motorist and underinsured Motorist.
Annual cost for the 05 road king $302.
    I also have a $1,000,000 Umbrella policy.
