His awards ceremony went nation wide. He actually got a phone call from a guy who landed in the 5th boat on the beach. My dad said he was a little worried, till he hit the beach, then he said it was like God took over and every-thing went as calm as could be expected. 70% of the guys that landed in the first string died in the first 20 min. including his Marine Attached Commanding Officer. I have many wonderful stories. He was really special. Funny, he was a minister, went in to be a Chaplin ended up being a medic. God did his job 2 ways for this man!!! less
